Forecasting future industrial emissions of CO2 shows that developing countries’ emissions could exceed those of developed countries as early as 2015.
However, annual emissions do not capture the accumulated effect of emissions over time and they mask huge differences in population between developed and developing countries.
Even so, in terms of annual emissions, the latest figures show that the US alone emits over seven times more than all of Africa and nearly 4.5 times as much as all Latin American countries combined
