Henriette, Will and Romeo will help me show our new maps for Central Africa and Canada. They, along with 75 other Global forest Watch partners, are tracking the health of their forests.
Two years ago, World Resources Institute documented that only one-fifth of the world’s historic forest cover remains as frontier forest or large intact tracts of natural forest — shown here in dark green. It was estimated then that another 40 percent would be lost in the next decade or two. Since then, Global Forest Watch has taken a closer look through new mapping work. Our maps paint a disturbing picture.
