Numbers in Absolute Poverty in World Regions, 1987-93
Although the percentage of the world’s population living in poverty declined slightly between 1987 and 1993, the absolute number of people living in poverty increased from 1.2 billion to 1.3 billion people. For more information see http://www.wri.org/trends/econgrow.html.
